Easy Ways to Talk About Feelings in Your EYFS Classroom

Wendy Woo Mood Stars

I’m writing this blog in partnership with  Nexus Education.com who share ideas, best practice and CPD that provide teachers a platform, full of videos, blogs and events, enabling a community eager to help and inform each other to shape UK education for the better.

Nexus Education had their second event recently solely focused on Early Years with Anna Lucas here on LinkedIn

Nexus Education believes, as I do, that there has never been a more important time to teach children about their emotions.

Early years classrooms are the perfect place to start learning about them. If children can explain how they are feeling and understand the emotions of others, they will have the best start to their school experience.

Let’s look at practical ways you can build this into your early years curriculum.

The author

Wendy is a retired child minder of 25 years from Maidenhead in Berkshire. It was whilst Wendy was child minding that her passion for Early Years education developed. Wendy enjoyed sharing her days with the children for whom she cared and enjoyed working through the Early Years Foundation Stage where specific areas of learning were practiced. The benefits of the children having a home from home environment and access to core learning was huge. Due to shortages of affordable and effective emotion resources online, Wendy decided to create her own emotion resource and My Mood Stars were born! Wendy has been developing My Mood Stars for the past three years and sells to Early Years settings, Primary schools and Child therapists all of whom have been delighted with the product and how it has helped so many young children with their emotional wellbeing.
