"Upon the education of the people of this country the fate of this country depends." (Butler, 1943:1)
I am currently embarking on a journey of exploration through education and life. I have previous experience in Education and this is where I am rooted. I have been active in the education field since I undertook my PTTLS qualification, and since then I have enjoyed my personal CPD journey and have been able to learn and work alongside some extremely talented educators. I used to have a view about what an educator was, however, my eyes and mind have been opened. Being able to see that parent, siblings and those looking to make a difference are educators. In that they impart their wisdoms but are also willing to learn from those they are guiding. Experience does not always mean that a person is a good teacher, it’s the passion and willingness to see things through a learner’s eyes. Restoring a learner’s identity and treating them as the individual they are and not another number on the register. Supporting them to reach their highest potential, being a sound board for their thoughts and guide them whilst encouraging them.
Through my studies, I am trying to develop my writing skills. I am looking at collaborative writing, but also solo projects. I am enjoying the freedom and support I have been given by my course lecturers. The confidence and encouragement they have given has allowed me to put myself forward. Dyslexia and health have held me back, however I would rather try, than spend time regretting not taking an opportunity.
I believe in equality for all and will always support what is right, whilst I am on my new journey I will be looking to network and learn more from others and contribute where possible.
