Interview with a SEND Teacher: Shaun Woodward

Being a SEND Teacher can be challenging at times due to the requirement for managing and addressing students’ behaviours effectively, while encouraging a positive classroom environment. However, it’s also a very rewarding career choice, with many benefits.

Recruitment agency, Spencer Clarke Group, recently caught up with a SEND Teacher, Shaun Woodward, to learn more about his role working in a SEND school.

Shaun went from working in a mainstream school to working as a Social Emotional and Mental Health Team Leader and is now working in a specialist school as a SEND Teacher.

His passion for SEND, inclusion and managing behaviour in the classroom, has led to him becoming an expert within this field.

Throughout this interview, Shaun shares what a typical day looks like for a SEND Teacher and how he keeps up-to-date with the changes in the SEND industry.
