Game Changing Lessons Schools Can Take From Famous Sports Heroes

It’s National School Sports Week, a time to celebrate the power of sport in education!

National School Sports Week is a great opportunity to shed light on the important role sport plays in supporting children’s physical and mental health and social development. Originally launched to encourage more physical activity amongst young people, National School Sports Week inspires children, families and schools to commit to 60 minutes of Physical Education, sport or play each day.

An effective way to get students interested and excited about exercise is by sharing the stories of famous sports heroes. While we often think of sports heroes for their physical strength and being a champion, their journeys to success provide valuable lessons for schools.

To mark National School Sports Week, specialist education recruitment agency, Spencer Clarke Group, are looking into the lives and careers of seven famous sports heroes and sharing the game-changing lessons schools can take from them.

  • Laura Kenny – Support and teamwork help unlock potential.
  • Max Whitlock – Even winners struggle.
  • Serena Williams – Pursue excellence.
  • Marcus Rashford – Adopt true sportsmanship.
  • Sarah Storey – Don’t let setbacks win.
  • Tom Daley – Be your authentic self.
  • Lucy Bronze – Use your superpower.
