Why School Leaders Should be Looking Forward to September

In this blog, Gemma writes about the pressure school leaders face at the end of the school year. While everyone else winds down, leaders find themselves with one foot in this year and one foot in the next – nursing staff to the end, saying goodbye to students, and already reviewing budgets, staffing, and the School Improvement Plan for September.

Drawing on over 500 hours spent supervising school leaders, Gemma talks about a theme that stands out again and again: the belief that the wellbeing of the school doesn’t include the wellbeing of the school leader. She makes the case for being “professionally selfish” – the idea that refilling your own cup is what enables you to keep pouring into others.

To help leaders put this into practice, Gemma is hosting a live, interactive webinar, ‘Gearing Up: End the Year Well, Start September Strong‘, on Tuesday 7th July at 6:30pm.
