Spotlight

Nicola Arkinstall has a new show on Teacher Hug Radio where she shines a spotlight on those who are being celebrated in the education sector.

I have some very exciting news!  I am going to be hosting my very own show on Teacher Hug Radio!  My first episode will air on Saturday 26th June at 2 p.m.  

The show will celebrate fantastic schools, teachers, teaching assistants and business leaders who are doing an amazing job in education.   
I am currently a Deputy Headteacher in a Primary school who has been shortlisted for TES Primary School of the Year.  This got me thinking that I would be really interested to find out all about the other schools and individuals who are being celebrated.

I will be interviewing people who have been shortlisted for a variety of different awards and been awarded in the Queens Honours List to find out what they are doing and learn from their experiences.

I am hoping that my show and blog will be a treasure trove of inspirational ideas.  They will shine a light on innovative ways of working within education to provide pupils with amazing learning opportunities which enable them to make accelerated progress.  

It will include schools who have transformed the use of their outdoor area, provided phonic lesson videos for the whole country that have been viewed over a million times, provided amazing remote learning opportunities during lock down and provided a wealth of support for the local community.  It will also include a Teaching Assistant who has been awarded an MBE and set up a national network of support and training for teaching Assistants.  It will also shine a light on New teachers who have made a massive difference in their schools and created a national network to share teaching ideas and support.  It will include a wealth of other amazing individuals and schools who are making a fantastic difference!

I am passionate about celebrating and supporting anyone working within education.  My show and blog will be a real celebration of the fantastic work being carried out and full of a wealth of ideas which I am hoping will inspire you

Nikki is a Deputy Headteacher in a primary school in Birmingham and the Director of Staffordshire Research School. Her primary school is an English Hub and wrote the Little Wandle Phonics programme. She is Lead DSL and also Art, Music and DT lead. She is an experienced NQT mentor and is a visiting fellow for NPQS and ECF. When Nikki is not working she loves to spend time with her husband, children, friends and family. She is also a governor at her daughter’s primary school. She loves travelling, reading, listening to podcasts, watching Netflix series and swimming.
